Introducing the Halifax Charity Gala Ambassadors 2025

This year we have seen a change to our Gala Queen naming. We are proud to introduce the Gala Ambassadors for 2025.

The Gala Ambassadors were in our procession and spent some time with the VIPs at this years event. They will go on to support and work with the Halifax Calder Rotary Club during their year as Gala Ambassadors.

Lyla Banks, age 12, is honoured to serve as a Halifax Gala Ambassador this year. A passionate and active member of her community, Lyla is committed to making a difference and proudly represents the spirit of Halifax.

She’s no stranger to leadership, having served as a RotaKids leader with Brighouse Rotary Club and a school councillor. Lyla has also helped interview candidates for headteacher, showing confidence and maturity beyond her years.

Charity work is close to her heart. She has raised funds through sponsored runs and even designed and sold handmade decorations to support the Forget Me Not Hospice. Whether helping at school events, guiding families on parents’ evenings, or taking part in Remembrance Sunday commemorations, Lyla is always ready to lend a hand.

Outside of volunteering, Lyla shines in performing arts and sport. She dances with Strickland Cook, performs in pantomimes with Huddersfield Light Opera, and sings with her school choir. She also plays netball for Calderdale Cubs and NHGS.

Lyla is proud to champion Halifax and all the wonderful things happening in the community.

Thomas Naylor is 14 years old and attends Trinity Academy Halifax. A lifelong Calderdale resident, Thomas knows his local area well and is proud to represent his community as a Gala Ambassador.

A confident and enthusiastic performer, Thomas shines on stage and enjoys engaging with large audiences. He’s actively involved in the Halifax Scouts, regularly taking part in local community events. One of his highlights was performing in three flashmobs at Westgate Arcade to mark the opening of Culturedale, following his role in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr at the Halifax Playhouse.

With a passion for the performing arts and a dream of one day acting on the West End and television, Thomas is excited to bring energy, dedication, and a love of community to his role as Ambassador.

Scarlett is 15 years old, was born in Halifax, and currently attends Ryburn Valley High School. A passionate performer with aspirations in musical theatre, she is a talented dancer, singer, actor, and musical theatre associate.

As a school ambassador, Scarlett regularly hosts, presents, and performs at both school and charity events, using her talents to support her community.

Scarlett is honoured to represent Halifax as a Gala Ambassador and is excited to give back to the place that has given her so much. She looks forward to supporting local events and celebrating all that makes Halifax special.
